MINUTES OF THE BENNINGTON COMMUNITY BOARD MEETING
Tuesday, February 11, 2003
Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Board members present: Wanda Harich, Jason Estock, Steve Bentley, Norm Sugar, David Morton, and Geovanny Fallas
MINUTES: January 14, 2003 approved unanimously.
RESIDENT COMMENT PERIOD:
- 35 Goodport Court concerned about commercial vehicles in the court.
- 37 Goodport Court reported dogs at large and failure to clean up problems. She also reported vandalism and car theft at her home
- 21 Goodport Court still having animal and sanitary problems.
- 2 Darby is concerned about commercial vehicles throughout the community.
TREASURER'S REPORT (Jason Estock- acting):
- Arrears are $42,668.52. Payment stubs were sent out late, so that is having an effect on returns. Arrears should decrease as pool season approaches.
CHAIRPERSON REPORT:
- Welcoming
- Lynn Zainfeld New resident's Tea will be on 3/30/03 from 2-5pm.
- Urban Growth
- Linda Gore- City held a Q&A session about the Casey Tract and several options were presented 1) Parklands development 2) Office Park 3) Entertainment- i.e. golf course/arts center. City will hold another meeting on 2/24/03. Concerns are there was not a No Build option; schools site possibility, and opposition to the Transitway.
OLD BUSINESS
- Parking
- Norm Sugar- Phil Ochs (attorney for Bennington) will prepare the legal documents. The Parking Committee intends to support and help Board in its decision to try to reserve 2 spaces. 75% of homeowners will need to sign an "instrument" to create a Bylaw change.
- City will issue Longdraft residents from Bennington reserved permits to park on street
- Streetlights
- Bennington is working with the city to grant us 3 more lights in the community, 2 on Goodport Court and one on Honey Brook Lane, to help with street lighting. An island will need to be made in one parking space on Honey Brook to accommodate the light.
- Trash
- Parcel K is often missed. B&B has been notified several times.
- ARC
- Last year's estimates are in and hearing notices will go out.
- Walk-throughs for this year will be done by April 1.
- Sidewalks
- Bennington has $10,000 set aside for sidewalk repair - Wanda will solicit contractors.
- Resident at 20 Darby would like a sidewalk in front of her house to divert people from walking on her lawn. Board will consider if in budget and does not affect drainage.
- 38 Wade
- Still condemned. Administrator will be working with owner and City to enforce clean up this spring.
- Tree at railroad
- CSX /City are working together to determine ownership of an unstable tree behind Honey Brook Court. CSX is difficult to pin down. Both City and Bennington believe from plans that it belongs to CSX.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Administrator's job: Only one applicant so far. Will wait a few weeks and then send another flier if necessary.
